February's Meeting Night

The brethren met in the small dining room for a steak or halibut dinner. As the weather was very bad and the flu season is in full swing many of the usual attenders of Lodge stayed home. Those who came had a wonderful time. The young ladies from Bethel No. 4 at Queen Anne joined us for dinner and then listened to the Lodge competition on the subject of lawyer jokes.

The lawyers present took these in good stride and will probably not sue the Lodge.

After dinner the brethren retired to the Lodge room for the monthly stated communication. Lodge was opened in the usual crisp style of St. John's Lodge and the master conducted the usual business with dispatch. VWB David Campbell, our District Deputy, gave WM Skip Albertson the plaque with the award for 'Cooperation With Concordant Organizations' that the Lodge won at the District meeting.

Committee reports were heard and the Lodge history is coming along nicely. It will be out soon and then there will be two volumes to the 'History of St. John's Lodge No. 9.' Volunteers were asked for to contact members who we have not seen for a while. A section is planned on this website to let everyone know what our absent brethren are doing these days.

While this was going on the Job's Daughters diligently shined everyone's shoes. The Job's Daughters in the picture above who were busily at work on the Brethren's shoes were (L-R) Michele Christensen, Ronda Murray, Erin Murray, Katie Murray, Shellay Maughan, Alana Herman, Kristina Townswick, Elizabeth Norgard, and Michael Towner. Bethel No. 4 is doing the shoe shining as a fund raiser. The Lodge will send them a check which will include the donations of the brethren. We wish the best for the girls and always try to be of help to the Bethels.
The brethren wore some wild and mismatched socks this month and a competition was held to decide who had the best example of 'bad socks.' WB Darryl Womack, the Grand Lodge photographer, won the competiton by one vote. His entry is the third one from the right of the six finalists in the picture.

Our District Deputy closed the Lodge when all was finished. His official visit was very well received by his Brothers.

Entertainment was provided by WB Orrin Niles who has been our Lodge organist for many years. It is always a pleasure to listen to his music. The meeting went very smoothly and everyone had a wonderful time.

At the end it was as the Tiler says at a table Lodge: "Happy to meet, Sorry to part, and Happy to meet again." See everyone on March 6th at Lodge.
