March's Meeting Night
 | An excellent Salmon or stuffed chicken breast repast was served in the small dining room at 6 o'clock PM. Steve (Steve's Catering from Steve's Cafe in Bothell) did an outstanding job on this meal. An overflow of brethren was almost achieved and everyone enjoyed the company and the atmosphere of an active membership at refreshment. There is room for expansion of the refreshment area when more of the brethren come out to Lodge and all of us would love to see this happen. |
| The membership enjoyed the company of Professor Alex Anderson from the University of Washington and two ladies from the Blue Nile orphanage project that St. John's Lodge is supporting this year. In addition we had two entered apprentice Masons, a prospective member and four visiting members from other Lodges. We all were treated to an excellent cheese cake for dessert. | |
After the meal it was time for the monthly joke session. This month it was Enron and Stock Broker jokes. We don't expect any backlash from this session as we have no Enron executives in the Lodge and the stock brokers all want us to invest our money with them.
 | Following the joke session all present retired to the Lodgeroom for the lecture on Columns. The next half-hour went by quickly as Dr. Anderson showed slides of ancient columns in Greece, Turkey, and Italy while giving an interesting lecture on column history and construction. It was time to begin the stated all too soon as everyone was engrossed in the lecture and were not ready for the time to be over. This lecture could have lasted at least two more hours and the members would have considered the time well spent. |
The stated meeting began with the usual crisp opening by the officers of the Lodge. A new Master Mason was entered on the rolls of the Lodge and a petition for the degrees is on the secretary's desk. Committee reports were given and the Worshipful Master was presented with a plaque for the Lodge from one of our Little League baseball teams with the team picture on it. VWB David Campbell, our District Deputy and St. John's Lodge No. 9 PM, is busily visiting Job's Daughters, Rainbow Assemblies, and DeMolay groups distributing the checks from St. John's Lodge and he got many of the brethren to give him a helping hand with this fun endeavor.
Worshipful Master 'Skip' Albertson closed Lodge with humor and dignity. He would like every brother to know that he is pleased with how things are progressing this year and would like to see more of the membership participate actively in the labors of the Lodge. | |
