April's Meeting Night

Steve (Steve's Catering from Steve's Cafe Expresso in Bothell) was here at two o'clock in the afternoon to prepare the feast. This was Steve's birthday so we feel especially honored that he took all the time on his special day to put on such a sumptuous feast. Thank's Steve! |
| Laughter, good times, serious ritualized toasts, and a genuine feeling of brotherhood were the hallmarks of the evening. This evening's meeting - along with a very full tummy - will be long remembered as one of the best meetings anyone present has ever attended.Twenty-five cent fines were assessed to just about everyone present for transgressions real or imagined and very few escaped without digging into a pocket for their change. | | Photograph by Chuck Brockway |
Not even WM 'Skip' Albertson could escape feeding the alms box. He accidentally gave one of the toasts when he asked another Brother to give it and double fined himself.
Things, such as deacons and stewards staffs, the alms box, and some other innocent items would suddenly disappear from one place and suddenly appear at another. Amazingly they all seemed to re-appear at the same place. The Chamberlain had to ransom his alms box back (by putting alms in the box, of course) and those who had lost their items had to ransom them back in the same manner. Finally those responsible for the disappearances were fined for their behavior. It was all in good fun and caused much merriment.

Hans Wehl reported that the City of Hope magazine has an article about the charity received from St. John's Lodge No. 9 and he passed out City of Hope magazines containing the article. The Worshipful Master reported on the buying of books for the Accelerated Readers Project (Seattle and Edmonds Public Schools) and displayed a large banner made by the students of one of these schools and told of the school's joy at receiving the study materials. |
Other reports not connected to Lodge Business were given and then the table Lodge was dismissed after the Tyler's toast.
| The membership retired to the Lodge room for the business portion of the meeting. A petition for the degrees was favorably balloted and some other business was conducted. Lodge was closed and all reluctantly left. |
| Attendance at this meeting was about fifteen members more than were present at the March Stated Communication. The more of the membership who make Lodge a priority the more the Lodge will be able to accomplish and the more fun we all will have. Make Lodge your priority and we will see you at the May Stated. | |
