Two Members Receive Lodge Officer's Proficiency Certificates

Vw Bro. Dave Campbell delivered Lodge Officer Proficiency Certificates to our Senior Warden, Bro. Terry Grove, and to our Secretary, VW Bro. Jim Russell at the July Stated Communication.

This certificate entails learning for all three degrees the opening, closing, calling up, down, to refreshment, to labor, and some other portions of the ritual.

It also entails a quiz on the Washington Masonic Code and requires some study and knowledge of the operation of a Masonic Lodge.
Many Masons in Washington have begun the work to receive this certificate but few follow throught to completion. It is unusual for two to be earned at one time in any Lodge and St. John's Lodge is very proud of these Brothers and can be certain that with these brothers the ritual will be performed with accuracy.

Display Case Arrives

The long awaited display case has arrived and now resides in the entry to the Quick Room at the Scottish Rite Masonic Center. This case and its contents are well worth a look before entering the Lodgeroom.

The contents will be regularly rotated with some of the many historical items contained in the archives of the Lodge.

Fremont Fair Is A Success
Article by Skip Albertson

Although Freemasons do not proselytize, it does not mean we can not spread the word of our work within the community we service.
On the weekend of June 22-23, Daylight Lodge sponsored a stage with 4-5 different bands playing each day and Daylight and St. Johns Lodge had a booth to spread the word of Masonry at the Fremont Fair. Several hundred people came up mostly curious about what we do and who we are. Some wanted to talk; some just wanted information or the address of our website.

Here is a movie taken during the fair for you to enjoy.

The Lodge donation will purchase an Eclipse Model 850 EKG machine. We know the MRC will be able to offer better care to our brethren and the other residents of the center because they now have this needed equipment.

St. John's Lodge No. 9 takes pride in always remembering to help our seniors and takes particular pride in being able to help the Masonic Retirement Center in times of special need. The Lodge puts on an annual oyster dinner for the residents, regularly supports the residents cheer fund, and has financed new construction.

Seattle and Edmonds Public Schools Receive Reading Materials

Photograph by Darrel Womack
St. John's Lodge delivered the funding for 300 sets of books and the related software for testing the skills of third grade accelerated reading program students at John Rogers and Cedar Way Elementary Schools. The Lodge has now made possible implementation of programs which have gone for three years without funding and have been waiting for someone to purchase these items.
It is our hope that these materials will help the program succeed and our city's children get the education they deserve from our public schools.

If you are a male over the age of eighteen years and subscribe to the ideals you see displayed on this website perhaps you should consider asking a Freemason to help you join the Fraternity. Freemasonry in the United States of America prohibits any Freemason from asking you to join. So, it is up to you to ask. Ask yourself why you are not a Freemason.
