On a cloudy first Sunday Morning in May, Ivar's Salmon House once again was the meeting place for all members and family members of St. John's Lodge No. 9 for breakfast. At 8:30 AM most had arrived and were ready to eat.
The food was plentiful and there was no possibility of not finding something good to eat.
| | The restaurant wait staff was on the spot helping everyone to find what they wished and there were tables set up away from the service line holding candied strawberrys and other goodies. There was also an omlet station set up where everyone could order custom cooked omlets and crepes. |
| Worshipful Master Terry Grove coordinated the restaurant staff and mngled with as many of the members families as was possible whlle all were there. He seemed to be everywhere and he took time to compliment the help for doing such an excellent job of taking care of all the little things which made the event a success. | | |
| | Unlike last year's event the membership was seated in the main dining room where there were separate tables for two, four, and up to eight. Last years event was in the private dining area where there were row tables set up for communal dining. This years arrangement made for a much more intimate brunch and | | everyone seemed to enjoy the arrangement. | |
| Most of those present could not help but revisit the culinary offerings at least twice. There was so much to choose from that it was not possible to get all the things that one wanted on one plate. Some, such as the webmaster, returned more than twice in order to sample (sic) the entrees and desserts. | | |
From the food line to the omlet line to the dessert table line and back again the diners moved. Many of the them probably did not eat again for hours and hours after this meal. |
| | Although the event drew well over a hundred people there was still room for many more. If you are one of those who missed this event you really missed a good feed.
Although the Family Brunch is advertised by the Lodge as being a thank you to the immediate families of the membership for allowing | | them the time during the year to attend the Lodge and its activities, it's scope is much wider. It is an event that is intended as an avenue for ALL members and their immediate families to gather and enjoy good food and company. Next year do not let yourself miss the Family Brunch - you will be pleased that you came.
Picttures of most of those present are found on the brunch picture page. If you want the original large photograph file of any picture on the page please e-mail the webmaster. He will be pleased to e-mail it (them) to you.
