2003 Lodge Picnic
Photos by WB Darrel Womack
The morning of Saturday, August 16th brought to a climax all the work that went into this year's St. John's Lodge No. 9's picnic. From those who picked up the steaks to all those who brought salads, hot dishes, deviled eggs, desserts, and all the other things that make a picnic everyone did their part. The serving line was laden before noon with goodies for all to eat.

WB Ken Lane Jr. once again was the chief cook. He slaved away on the grill cooking up steaks and other delectables for all. When asked why he does this each year he stated that he really enjoys doing the cooking for the picnic each year. There were plenty of volunteers to take care of the grill, the barbque and the side dishes that were ready to replace dishes as they were consumed

At high twelve refreshment was served. Everyone lined up and filled their plates. More were arriving and the food line was kept going for quite some time. At about one o'clock most had been fed and were visiting with friends and Brothers. The kids were having fun in the bounce house or running around the area.
Sometime after one o'clock the games were begun. All the kids who wanted to participate were able to compete for the prizes. A wonderful time for both the kids and their parents. The haystack was, once again, a highlight of the day. All the little ones had the opportunity to find omney in the haystack and their parentw were allowed to coach them so no one would go away empty handed.
After the games were played people began to disperse. Some stayed until everything was finished. The volunteers took everything down and the picnic was over for another year. We will meet again for this event on a bright sunmmer day next year - perhaps at the same place and perhaps another but we will have a wonderful time.

On line and ready for the
