 | | At about 5:30 PM on Wednesday, May 7th cars began to arrive at the Scottish Rite Masonic Center for the monthy Stated Communication. This month we had over 45 members, guests, and visitors attend our social hour, dinner, and pre-meeting festivities.
The membership went all out to make our visitors and guests feel welcome and wanted. |
| Dr. Scott Noegel, who was our featured after dinner speaker who was going to speak on the Ark of the Covenant and its ties to Egyptian history and culture and four of the candidates for Jr. Grand Warden of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Washington were in attendance along with several visitors. Conversation was lively before supper and throughout the meal. | | |
 | | At 6:00 we entered the dining room and, after the prayer, sat down to an excellent dinner of tossed green salad, ham, mashed potatos, and vegetable which was followed by and excellent dessert.
Following the meal everyone retired to the Lodge Room for the evenings talk. |
| Dr. Noegel gave a slide presentation and explained how the Ark was made and talked about the corollaries between its design and the design of royal thrones, Egyptian and other ancient Cherubim, and other interesting items concerning the design of the Ark. He concluded his remarks by answering many questions from those present. An excellent presentation. | | |
Guests were then excused and at about 7:30 PM WM Terry Grove opend Lodge for the monthly Stated Communication. The minutes were read, bills paid and a petition for plural membership as well as a petition for the degrees were voted upon and approved by the membership. The usual committee reports were given and places at the St. John's Lodge tables at the Grand Lodge fellowship dinner were filled. The Seattle Youth symphony's gala dinner seats were distributed and the Master still has tickets for the individual concerts for any interested member.
Committee reports were given and then the WM introduced the visiting candidates for Junior Grand Warden. |
 | | Charles Davis, John Sleeth, John Keliher, and John McQuevy all spoke the the brethren about what they would like to accomplish if they are elected and continue on to become Grand Master. All were interesting to listen to and each had different ideas of what they would focus upon. |
The brethren then had the opportunity to ask questions and each was given time to address the questions. The answers were as different as were each of the candidates.
We know that whichever of them gets elected at the upcoming Grand Lodge session they will do their very best to make the Fraternity strong in the future.
Due to the many things that had to be done at this meeting the time grew late before all was accomplished but the brethren were still reluctant to have the meeting end. |
At 10 PM Lodge was closed in due form by WM Terry Grove and the Brethren and visitors went their separate ways until the Family Brunch brings us all together again on May 4th at 8:30 AM at Ivar's Salmon House.
