July Stated Communication
Pictures by WB Darrel Womack and WB Charles Tupper
On the warmest day yet this year the membership and their ladies began to gather at the Seattle Scottish Rite Masonic Center at about 5:30 PM. Many of the ladies had not seen one another since the Family Brunch and had some catching up to do on the doings of one another.

At six o'clock everyone filed into the dining room for the annual "Herb's Night" Hawaiian repast. Steve served Pineapple Pork, Beef, Chicken, rice, barbequed pork, and Banana Cream Pie for dessert. There was little converstion while everyone enjoyed the meal.

At about 7:30 the members retired to the Lodgeroom where WM Terry Grove opened Lodge and took care of the necessary Lodge business. When this was finished he called to refreshment and everyone came into the Lodgeroom for the evenings events.

VWB Gale Kenney presented WB George Price of St. John's Lodge No. 9 and Bro. Francis Khale from Rising Sun Lodge No. 22 of the Grand Lodge of Ohio pins for fifty years membership in the Masonic Fraternity. A real record of dedication and longevity in our Fraternity for these brothers.

VWB Kenney also presented our VWB David Campbell with the Grand Master's Youth Award. A very deserved award for our Brother who has dedicated many, many years to the various youth groups attached to our Fraternity and annually distributes the Youth group checks for St. John's Lodge to Demolay, Rainbow, and Job's Daughters Chapters.

WM Terry Grove then had the Lodge do a memorial for Bro. Richard Alva Reeve, something that the Lodge usually does in closed session as memorials are tributes to fallen brothers and members usually talk about the good times enjoyed with and the accomplishments of these Brothers in a very personal context.

VWB David Julian and his lovely lady Beverly then entertained the Lodge in sing along style with several well known Hawaiian songs including the "Hawaiian Wedding Song" made internationally famous by Don Ho.

Beverly also sang a wonderful rendition of "Harbor Lights" for all to enjoy, accompanied by David.

The ladies were then excused from the Lodgeroom and WM Terry Grove closed Lodge. The Brethren, ladies, and visitors went their separate ways until we meet again for the August Stated Communication which will include all of our Scholarship recipients and their families. Peace and Harmony prevailed as it always does at St. John's Lodge No. 9.
