October Stated Communication
Pictures by WB Charles Tupper
On a very nice October 1st afternoon at about 5:30 PM the membership and visitors to St. John's Lodge No. 9 began to arrive for the October dinner and Stated Communication. At 6 PM everyone went into the small dining room where Steve (Steve's Cafe Expresso) had prepared beef and Sausage, Mashed Potatoes, SaurKraut, and dessert for all to enjoy.

As there were no presentations this month previous to the Stated Communication the membership and visitors spent the time between dinner and the Stated Communication visiting. The webmaster forgot the memory card for his camera and had to run home to get one so he did not get the usual pictures of the dining room this month.

Once he returned with the card he proceeded to photograph doings in the Lodge room for this month's report. VWB David Julian entertained, as always, with his magic at the keyboard and all enjoyed his music.

Once Lodge was opened WB Jack Berg gave an educational presentation with slides on the subject of Jerusalem, which he recently visited. A very good presentation which included pictures of the Wailing wall and of various depictions of what the Second Temple looked like. All present
learned something from listening and watching.

Following the presentation a new Brother Master Mason presented his proficiency for the Lodge. It was well received and the Lodge took a few minutes to shake his hand and welcome him as a permanent member of the Lodge. We are certain that he, as well as all St. John's Lodge No 9's candidates will be a supportive and contributing member.

Members birthdates during the month were mentioned and those present who have one were treated(??) to the Lodge singing "Happy Birthday" - out of key.

Communications were read, the bills were authorized for payment, and the minutes of the preceding meeting were read. The Scottish Rite, it was reported, has put off
action on possibly selling the building for sixty days.

A Long Range Planning Committee was appointed to look into the future needs of St. John's Lodge and will meet on the third Wednesday of this month.

Money was ordered to be sent to the Magnolia/Ballard food bank. The membership was polled to find out who was going to attend the District Reception for the Grand Master on October 31st - Seating for dinner is limited. Layfayette's International Night was discussed and several members of St. John's Lodge No. 9 will be in attendance at that affair.

Announcements were made, the minutes were read, The Worshipful Master closed his Lodge, and the brethren parted at about 9:45 PM.

Peace and harmony prevailed, as it always does, at St. John's Lodge No. 9.
