Masonic Park Devastated
The tropical storm that past through Western Washington the week of November 5th brought devastating flooding to the Granite Falls Masonic Park. To see the damage as it was happening turn to the Flood Report. |
| Children's Identification Program | | PM Terry Grove spent untold hours at the Masonic CHIPS booth at the State Fair in Monroe. His dedication is typical of the members of St. John's Lodge who endeavor to help our society and our youth. (Many members of the Lodge work diligenty outside the Lodge with programs supported by St. John's in an effort to help our society grow and become better equipped to deal with the problems of today's world)
The CHIPS program is designed to give parents additional tools should a loved one become lost. These include a DNA swab, a dental impression with a saliva sample, a 3 to 5 minute video where specific questions are asked and the child answers, and the typical l.D. card with fingerprints and family information.
As this program is designed, families are encouraged to return every 3 years to update the information. This presents a true growth chart and is a record of changes in appearance. The DNA sample taken never changes as far as is known today. The saliva sample on the dental wafer has been tested for 20 years. To date it has remained viable. And as children mature their peculiarities change as do their physical features. This program is also available for the elderly and sets in place the tools for a family to find a loved one should they develop memory loss similar to that in an Alzheimers patient.
When the packet is complete it is given to the parents of the child to take home to put in a safe place. It is then available to the family for use should the child ever become missing.
Due to the efforts of chairman WBro. Vinnie DiGiulio and WBro. Terry Grove the Monroe Fair booth was open to process families for this program. 1,656 families took advantage of this opportunity over the twelve day duration of the fair. All of these now have an excellent resource should their child ever become missing.

St. John's Says Thank You In Style
Each year, on the Sunday before Mother's Day, St. John's Lodge No. 9 hosts a brunch at a Seattle area restaurant. This brunch is the Lodge's way of saying "thank you" to the families of the membership for allowing our Brothers the time it takes to have an active and productive Lodge. For the past few years we have been having this affair at Ivar's Salmon House on the shores of Lake Union. This year we had it there again.
Ivar's staff outdid themselves in supplying the food for this event this year. It was the best we have seen and the well over one hundred members and their families that attended really enjoyed themselves. |

Scholarship Recipients Join Us For Dinner
Many of our Scholarship recipients for 2006 joined us for dinner at our August Stated meeting so that we could see them and find out how our awards are helping them in their quest for an educated future. These young people probably would not be able to pursue a higher education without the help organizations such as St. John's Lodge No. 9. We are most pleased to have the opportunity to help each year and look forward to this dinner. |
