Devastating Flood Hits Masonic Park Granite Falls, Washington story by Kenneth Thompson, Pictures by Fred and Paula Turner |

The storm of November 6, 2006 has created extreme havoc to the Masonic Park in Granite Falls, Washington. The park, which is located 4.5 miles east of Granite Falls, has the beautiful Canyon Creek as a center point. This usually mild mannered stream became a raging torrent of water that destroyed many of the areas throughout the park causing an estimated $40,000 to $50,000 dollars of damage.
The most extensive damage occurred to open air amphitheater, in which all stations of the lodge were washed away leaving mire of mud.
Our three fishponds are no more. They were washed away with the flood.
Some of the culverts under the roads connecting the different camping areas of the park are gone completely and others have been damaged extensively, but are repairable.
Several of the shelters on the creek have been undermined by the high water and shelter twelve in camping area one was completely destroyed along with the road. Other roads throughout the park are impassable and must be restored before the next camping season.
Here are eighteen pictures of the flooding which were taken as the river flooded the park.
The rebuilding of the Masonic Park will take an unprecedented outpouring of both volunteer labor, along with some financial assistance.
Should you or your Masonic Group be able to assist us in restoring our wonderful park by either volunteering your time or by making a financial gift to the 2006 Masonic Park Flood Restoration Program it will really be appreciated.
