Santa Strikes Again
St. John's perennial Santa Claus, along with his helpers, delivered presents and food to those needy families that came to the Lodge's attention this year. This is one of the most popular events of the year for the membership of St. John's Lodge. WB Ken Lane Jr. heads up the local charity end and VWB Chuck Brockway heads up the armed services end. Between the armed services and our own city we are able to help several families each year. The committee shops for and delivers food, clothing, and presents that will last the recipients long after the holidays |

Annual Brunch at Ivar's Salmon House
| |
Sunday, May 6th from 8:00 AM to 10:30 AM saw well over 100 members and their families at Ivar's Salmon House for our Annual FABulous Sunday Brunch. The restaurant has been redone and is much nicer than before. The food service area is now separate from the dining area and the dining area is more open. Everyone loved the atmosphere this presented and everyone enjoyed the morning. The food was, as usual, excellent.
This event is St. John's Lodge No. 9's way of saying "Thank You" to the families of our membership for the time we take our members away from them to accomplish the duties and goals of the Lodge. It is also for the widows of our departed members and their families as a way for us to say that we will always remember our fallen Brethren. Our families and widows really look forward to this Brunch and many stay for the entire two and a half hours of the event.

Lodge Does Teen Feed Again
| |
Monday, July 16th brought the Brothers and families of St. John's Lodge to University Luthern Church to prepare a steak dinner for the homeless youth in the University District. The Lodge prepares meals periodically for these forgotten youth and tries to prepare for them a steak dinner at least once a year. Thirty to forty youths showed for the dinner and they really packed the steaks away. The Master of the Lodge observed one slender young lady put away three steaks. Where do they put the food?
This is just one of the charitable works of the Lodge which requires hands on work by the Brethren. It is fun and rewarding.

147th Lodge Anniversary Celebration
The College Club of Seattle was the setting of our 147th Anniversary celebration which was held on September 8th. Over 120 were with us to commemorate this occasion with soft lighting, music from the Andy Murchovich Trio, Prime Rib or Salmon with all the fixings and a visit from our 26th President, Brother Theodore Roosevelt. (Actually the visit was from Brother James Foote who is the Theodore Roosevelt at Sagamore Hill National Historic site, the home of Theodore Roosevelt)
The knowledge of Theodore Roosevelt displayed by Mr. Foote was nothing short of amazing. The evening went perfectly and everyone had a good time.
