Copied From "Sparks" Vol. 21. No. 3 IBEW Local 46 MIKE RUST

From Keith, Randy and the crew at GCC:
Mike Rust, a Local 46 brother, was diagnosed with Leukemia in September of 2006. At that time, Mike worked as a foreman for General Construction at the Boeing Bellevue site. Mike led a crew which just completed a difficult installation of three 750 kcmil feeders and a 500 kcmil ground, in parallel runs of nine four inch conduits with several bends and pull boxes.
Mike is currently recovering from his
fourth, and no doubt the strongest session of chemotherapy treatments, which devastate his immune system and leave him three times as sick then the worst flu virus. We are all very hopeful that the treatments work and Mike makes a full recovery.
Before getting into the "Trade," Mike was a Shop and Physics teacher for about fifteen years. In 2000, Mike became an apprentice in the IATC and turned out with General Construction in 2005. In 2006, Mike became foreman and ran two tenant improvement projects in the office complex very well, before the abovementioned cable pulling project.
His hobbies are his dogs (specifically his long haired shepherd), bicycle riding, traveling (mostly in Europe, working around the house, crossword puzzles, and reading.
He is always a pleasure to have around with his great wit and sense of humor.
