Sacajawea Receives Accelerated Reader Funding for 2007.

Members of St. John's l.odge present Lodge History books and funding to the school

The partnership between Sacajawea Elementary School and St. John's Lodge pays big dividends in the increased reading ability of the students.  The Lodge has supplied the school with a computer server and all the necessary software and books to support the Accelerated Reader program.  This is not a one time commitment by the Lodge and it has gone on for the past few years.  It will continue into the future as we realize that the future belongs to these young people and if they are well educated they will have a much better chance of making it a rosy future.

Worshipful Brother Joseph Lund along with Worshipful Brothers Bill Collison and Helmuth Svoboda arrived for the Monthly first Monday School Assembly and were royally treated by the students and faculty.  WB Lund presented the school with copies of volumes one and two of our Lodge history and had them placed in the library so the students could check them out for their parents to read.

He then presented the principle with a check in the amount of $5,000.00 to purchase materials and books in conjunction with the accelerated reader program.  This program, the school informs us, is working wonders with the student body.  The recent addition of four bicycles to be given away in a drawing each semester for students who acheive goals set by the faculty is paying even bigger dividends.  This drawing has students reading more than ever in order to earn chances at the bicycles.

We look forward to a long and fruitful relationship with this school, its faculty, and its student body.  It is successful to this point and test scores point this out.
