Having Fun In 2008
About 40 members, guests, and family members attended this movie on January 18th. Many met before the movie for dinner or coffee and everyone had fun.
Over 160 of our members, their families, and our widows attended this year's thank you for "letting us do what we do" brunch. The turn out was spectacular and we were very pleased to see all the children present.
On the hottest day of the year so far (It was over 90 degrees in the shade) the more hardy of the membership showed up for the Underground Tour. Paul, the Tour Guide, is a member of Greenwood Lodge No. 253 and has both copies of the St. John's Lodge No. 9 history. He put in many references to our Lodge beginning with the introduction to the tour which was given to four different tour groups and was heard by about 200 non Masons. This was worth the time and effort to attend just because of the exposure and association with our Lodge being recognized as being present at the beginning of our city. Following the tour everyone walked down to the waterfront and Ivar's Fish Bar where we got Fish and Chips and a nice cold drink. Good fellowship and an excellently spent afternoon. If you missed this one you really missed a good outing. Ride the Ducks
The Seattle Duck Tour was a rousing success. All 36 who had reservations were there to load onto the Duck on July 19th. The tour was worth the time and effort and all who attended really enjoyed themselves. After the Duck brought everyone back we had a big meat and cheese tray sandwich spread at Greenwood Temple. Mike Rust Memorial Lodge Picnic
Held at Nile Country Club's Picnic Area B the picnic exceeded expectations. More people were there, by far, than had made reservations. The weather was overcast for most of the day and the temperature was in the low to mid 70's. The bounce house, water balloon toss, haystack hunt, Bingo, and all other games enjoyed a lot of participation from all ages. Food was abundant and everyone present had a wonderful time. Next year bring your families, bring your friends. It is again going to be a wonderful time for all. St. John's Lodge No. 9's 148th Anniversary Celebration
Open to the members of St. John's Lodge No. 9, their significant others, and the principle officers of our Daughter Lodges the Anniversary Celebration will feature Bobby Bruce, who performs in the character and style of Neil Diamond. The Canadian impersonator not only mimics the great Neil Diamond to a tee but also implants some of his own pizzazz and style, a combination so clever and disarming that he "brings the house down." This event is always well attended and is a Lodge highlight of any given year. This year promises to be another event to rival events of the past. Oktoberfest at Leavenworth
If the Ducks weren't enough this outing is a blow out for St. John's Lodge No. 9! For only ten dollars a person you can bring the family and we will transport everyone to Leavenworth for the first Saturday of Oktoberfest (October 4th). VWB Norm Watts and Zarthan Lodge No. 148 will feed everybody a sauerkraut and ribs dinner at the Lodge Hall at 5:30 PM! The Mayor of Leavenworth will tap the keg at noon and we will be there for this. Parades, amusements, activities, and good old fashioned fun are in store for all who attend. There is even a playground for toddlers! At 5:50 PM everyone will meet at
Zarthan Lodge in Leavenworth for a Sauerkraut and ribs dinner prepared by the
Lodge. Also, you can pay WB Charlie Tupper, VWB Jim Russell, or WM Jim Wold. They will see that your name is on the list. Watch this listing as we will add to it periodically when we find an event that we wish to participate in as a Lodge. You never know what fun is in store until you look.
